Job Description

We are recruiting an Intermediate Structural/Outfitting Designer in Ottawa , ON and/or St. John’s, NL. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop 3D production models using ShipConstructor for ship structures, including primary, secondary, and tertiary steel, for new‑build and refit projects.
  • Produce 3D models of outfitting items including ladders, stairs, gratings, skids, handrails, machinery and equipment foundations, manholes, and hatches.
  • Define high‑level volume reservations for joinery, HVAC routing, and large and small equipment and machinery.
  •   Interpret technical, detail design and construction drawings related to ship structures design.
  • Develop specifications, sketches, requirements, and technical drawings
  • Review of production outputs to ensure correctness of the 3D model and associated deliverables are compliant with specifications and standards
  • Support technical discussions for project reviews;
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on qualifications of applicant.

Qualifications:

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, or associate degree; OR the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience and minimum 4 years marine experience
  • Modelling and drafting experience in the marine environment producing functional and detail structure models and drawings
  • Strong working experience using ShipConstructor
  • Experience in the use of AutoCAD and Aveva E3D/PDMS would be considered an asset
  • Experience working within a shipyard would be an asset.

  • Eligibility for enrollment into Controlled Goods Program
  • Eligible for Canadian Security Status (Secret or above).
